K.I.S.S. Your Logo

. . . a great article by our resident Promotional Products expert

By Angela Gorelick

So, you’ve bought a domain --the right name and perfect expression of what’s going to be your business on the world wide web.

Whether it’s going to be 100% online or an addition to your already established brick and mortar, you know that an online presence is important to the success of your business.

Equally important is your logo and branding of your business name. The internet has brought color into the life of many online businesses. Where else can you afford the luxury of 16.7million colors? NOWHERE! All the colors and effects that can be accomplished today, even with low resolution files for the internet are not easily imprinted or duplicated inexpensively in the world of advertising.

Angela Gorelick

Eventually, you will want to advertise and promote your business offline in print and with promotional products. You’ll start to use giveaways to attract new business or thank customers for their patronage, and employee incentives and appreciation gifts. Multiple colors or spectacular effects in your logo are far beyond the budget of many small business owners. Even Fortune 500 companies shy away from too many colors or effects, and there’s a good reason why.. Most factories charge a set up fee, per color, ranging from $ 20.00 to $ 75.00 on top of the product cost. Imagine that times 16.7million colors or more realistically, 4 - 6 colors. Either way, that’s quite an expensive promotional giveaway.

Take a good look , and I mean a Good Look, at some of the advertisements you see in magazines or on promotional products you receive at shows or in the mail. Take for instance, AT&T, Verizon, Hewlet Packard, Dell or even Microsoft. All of their logos have either one or two colors. They are very simple, yet extremely recognizable and easily remembered logos.

Since we started in 1999 with personalized gifts and then promotional products, we’ve seen logos come and logos go. The simple ones are the successful ones. The ones that are remembered and help to brand a business. Many businesses have had to go through the costly expense of redesigning their logo and losing whatever identity they’ve already created or have had to deal with costly set up and per piece, per color charges for their promotional products.

Although it’s tempting to want to show your business name or logo with much eye catching spectacular, it’s wise to use the K.I.S.S. rule..... KEEP IT SIMPLE for SUCCESS.

When designing your logo, you’re going to want something versatile. One that will look good on items such as key chains, pens, mugs and mouse pads as well as on your letterhead, press release, magazine or newspaper advertisements.

We recommend going with a one or two color logo with both text and a simple graphic that represents your industry or the specialty of your business. Feel free to contact us at any time to discuss putting your logo on a wide variety of promotional products. We can recommend graphic artists to assist you in designing your logo, preparing it for imprint or redesigning your already established logo for promotion and branding. Your successful and affordable promotions will help you to have a successful business both online and off.. And then there’s always the ease of small quantity items such as name tags, a mousepad, possibly a mug or two. For when you’re not quite ready for promotions but want to show a presence of your logo in and around your business, whether your on the road at a trade show or marketing event or you need to give a gift to a special client. We can help you with your volume or single orders Feel free to visit our website or send us an e-mail. We know you’re a “Busy Woman” and we’ll try to keep the process Simple – for your Success!
